A couple of months ago in Dar es Salaam, we met the Saudi Arabian consul who said he would help us obtain visas to enter his country. Today we spent three hours waiting to see the consul at the Saudi Arabian consulate here in Cairo to learn if our visas really were approved. Finally the waiting, messages and phone calls were worth every moment. “Your visas are ready. I just need to know the exact date of entry.” Jim and I were ecstatic – imagine if we really get to drive through one of the most closed countries – at least to non-Muslims – in the world!
